A numbering plan area commonly known as an area code, is a fundamental concept in. Telecommunications  particularly within the north american  Plan.

Geographic and Non-Geographic NPAs

 

Geographic NPAs: These are the most finland phone number list  common type and are directly tied to a specific geographic area. For example, 212 is a well-known geographic NPA for Manhattan, New York City. Calls made within the same geographic NPA traditionally did not require dialing the area code, while calls to a different NPA, even if geographically close, did.

Non-Geographic NPAs: These are used for specific services rather than a defined geographic region. Examples include:

Role in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP)
